Asphalt is a durable paving material made by mixing bitumen with aggregates like crushed stone, sand, and gravel. The stone gives asphalt its strength and load-bearing capacity, while the bitumen binds everything together to form a flexible, weather-resistant surface.

Asphalt is widely used for roads, driveways, potholes and parking lots because it offers several key benefits:

  • ✅ Durability – Crushed stone gives asphalt the strength to handle heavy traffic and resist wear and tear.

  • ✅ Flexibility – Asphalt can expand and contract with temperature changes, reducing cracking.

  • ✅ Smooth finish – It provides a clean, quiet ride for vehicles.

  • ✅ Quick installation – Asphalt can be laid and ready for use faster than many other materials.

  • ✅ Recyclability – Old asphalt can be removed, reheated, and reused, making it an environmentally friendly choice.

Its combination of strength, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability makes asphalt the go-to material for paving projects worldwide.

You should repair a pothole as soon as possible after it appears. Delaying repairs can lead to bigger, more costly problems, such as:

  • 🚧 Worsening damage – Potholes grow quickly as water seeps in and traffic breaks down the surrounding asphalt.

  • 🚗 Vehicle damage – Deep potholes can damage tires, suspension, and alignment.

  • ⚠️ Safety hazards – Potholes pose a risk to drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

  • 💸 Higher repair costs – Early repairs are usually quicker and less expensive than waiting until the damage spreads.

If you notice a pothole, especially during or after winter or heavy rain, it’s best to have it assessed and repaired promptly to maintain the integrity of your surface and avoid more serious issues.

Asphalt work can typically be completed during daylight hours, when temperatures are warm enough for proper curing and compaction. In most cases, work is done between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, depending on local regulations and weather conditions.

However, we can adjust our schedule based on:

  • ✅ Weather – Asphalt needs warm, dry conditions to be installed correctly.
  • ✅ Project type – For commercial or public spaces, work may be scheduled during off-peak or overnight hours to minimize disruption.
  • ✅ Noise bylaws – We always follow local ordinances regarding construction noise and start times.

If you have specific timing needs, our team will work with you to find the most efficient and convenient schedule for your project.

We recommend sealing your driveway every 2-3 years to protect it from weathering, cracking, and fading.

For most pothole or trench repairs, you can usually drive over the area within 1 to 3 hours, depending on the type of asphalt mix used and weather conditions. However, full curing may take longer.

However bigger types of jobs, you should wait at least 24 to 48 hours before driving on freshly laid asphalt. This gives it enough time to cool and harden properly. For heavier vehicles (like trucks or trailers), it's best to wait 3 to 5 days to avoid causing indentations or damage.

Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • 🚗 Light vehicles: 24–48 hours
  • 🚚 Heavy vehicles or equipment: 3–5 days
  • 🌞 Hot weather: Allow more time, as heat can soften the asphalt and slow curing
  • ❄️ Cooler weather: May speed up the curing process slightly

Even after it's safe to drive on, asphalt can take up to 6–12 months to fully cure. During this time, avoid sharp turns, heavy loads, or parking in the same spot for too long to prevent scuffing or surface marks.

The type of repair you need depends on the location, size, and cause of the damage. Here’s a quick guide to help you identify it:

🔧 Pothole Repair

  • What it is: A small, bowl-shaped hole in the pavement caused by water infiltration and wear.
  • What it looks like: Round or irregular hole, typically a few inches to a foot or more wide.
  • Common locations: Anywhere on the surface, especially in high-traffic areas or where water pools.

🔧 Trench Repair

  • What it is: A long, narrow cut in the asphalt, usually from underground utility work (like water, gas, or cable lines).
  • What it looks like: A straight or slightly curved strip cut into the road or driveway.
  • Common locations: Often runs across or along the pavement in a defined line.

🔧 Edge/Crossover Repair

  • What it is: Damage or wear at the edge of the asphalt or at transition points (like where a driveway meets the street or a footpath).
  • What it looks like: Crumbling, cracking, or sinking along the edge or where two surfaces meet.
  • Common locations: Driveway entrances, carpark edges, footpath crossovers, or road shoulders.

If you're unsure, our team can inspect the area and let you know exactly what kind of repair is needed — along with the best solution.
